CABINET BOETTCHER
Who are we ?
We are Industrial Property Attorneys (IPAs) and European Patent, Trademark and Design Attorneys (EPTAs) - titles issued by the INPI and the EPO.
The profession and the title of Industrial Property Attorney are regulated. The organisation of the profession is governed by law, articles L421 and R421 et seq. of the French Industrial Property Code.
How do you become an Industrial Property Attorney?
A technical diploma (for patent attorneys) or a legal diploma (for trademark attorneys) at Master's level is a prerequisite, supplemented by specialist training in Industrial Property law, three years' professional practice and passing the Industrial Property Attorneys' exams.
At CABINET BOETTCHER, we pay particular attention to the training of our associates, who work for several years under the close supervision of an experienced Industrial Property Attorney.
What are the obligations of an Industrial Property Attorney?
As we belong to a regulated profession, we are subject to very strict ethical rules such as :
- Professional secrecy
- Conflict of interest management
- An annual training obligation.
Each IP attorney is therefore a de facto member of the Compagnie des Conseils en Propriété Industrielle, which, like a professional association, ensures compliance with the code of ethics and sanctions any breaches.
As you will have understood, an Industrial Property Attorney is neither an Industrial Property Office examiner nor a simple innovation advisor.
An Industrial Property Attorney is a highly qualified and experienced professional who guarantees you relevant advice in terms of strategy and protection of your intellectual assets.
